Mental Health Encouragement Group - Project

Post by RunningScroll »

Hi Sandy and Everybody else still Active.

I am building a project called a 'Mental Health Encouragement Group'. I have drafted so far, three A5 mental health pamphlets, that deal with three major topics (Fortifying the Human Mind, Handling Psychotic Thoughts, and Reducing Dark Thoughts), and I think I have a fourth topic on the way about Manic Thoughts.

Here are my pamphlets text for your benefit and to be available for your critique. God bless! Dylan:

Fortifying the Human Mind, A Spiritual and Physical
Perspective – by Dylan Roberts

The Spiritual
1. Spend time with God (or Christ), and ask your mind to be
fortified with His energies. Let His blessings soak into your
body. Make meditation a part of your daily life. Practice stilling
the mind, and you can receive more and more each day.
2. Doing this over time will gradually replace negative or
unstable energies, and will eventually start to affect your brain
chemistry and nervous system. (Be patient)
3. Let the energy travel into different parts of your being, mind,
body and soul, and feel safe and blessed.
The Physical
1. Work on improving and perfecting your diet. (A healthy
body equals a healthy mind)
2. Exercise daily, becoming more vigorous and developing a
fitter body over time. (A fitter body leads to a stronger mind)
3. Doing the diet and exercise part enables neuroplasticity in
your nervous system and brain, which then allows our Creator
to make constructive changes in your mind and body, and
increases the consciousness of your soul.
Using such a two-pronged approach like this will lead to a
stronger mind, allowing you to be more resilient and focused in
the outside world, at work, with your family, in the social
environment, giving you more peace and happiness. God bless!

Handling Psychotic Thoughts (Part 1, Something to Hold
Onto) – by Dylan Roberts

Psychosis is often a complex and multifaceted problem, and it
can feel like your mind and soul maybe spiralling out of
control; so what can you hold onto?

In my opinion you can hold onto God through psychosis. You
can pray and worship, but you just need to be aware of your
mental space potential for hallucinations and delusions. And it
doesn’t matter as much as you think, especially if you’re
patient and relax more.

My understanding is that psychosis is just the subconscious or
unconscious levels of the mind spilling into the conscious
layer. A useful barrier or two may have temporarily broken
down. And the more you try to fix it, the worse it can get.

It’s worth considering the adage ‘Head in the clouds, but feet
on the ground’, the concept of being able to experience God
without losing your practical capacity. And also the idea that
‘there is a fine line between being psychotic and psychic
phenomena’. It is possible to experience the influence of God
as well as psychotic tendencies at the same time, making it
confusing. The more you relax though, the less the psychotic
aspect will affect you. The less you are mentally disturbed by
your spiritual experiences, the more you can have them.

It might be possible that rather than being a sick person, you
are actually just a sensitive person, and have damaged the
barriers in your mind that would normally be in place to keep
you stable.

Integrating your soul life with your physical life should be the
goal of humanity. And you can trust that God has a specific
plan for your life whether you’ve had psychotic tendencies or
not. So the element of TRUST and patience becomes so
essential to your development INTO the life you truly dream
of. Healing is available. So lineup to experience God’s
blessings.

Handling Psychotic Thoughts (Part 2, Additional Practical
Mind Management Steps and Principles)

A problem often with psychotic mental patterns is that not
everything that you think (or experience) is true. Even when
someone has a strong and stable mental pattern, not everything
that person thinks, is true and correct or exact, but a lot more so
with psychotic ones.

So the attempt to be mentally accurate for a psychotic person,
can be incredibly hard. To move beyond this state, one has to
start discounting thoughts more often, or double-check
thoughts with ‘does that sound right?’, or ‘does that sound too
good to be true?’ because that’s usually the sign of lower layers
spilling into the conscious level. Whimsical desires and
fantasies are often the sign as well.

Leading back towards a more grounded and realistic state of
being requires more attention to the physical and practical
world, especially with activities like cleaning, exercise, work,
and gardening. Enjoy it too! This physical reference helps to
stabilize both brain and body.

Start dealing with your thoughts progressively more promptly
and practically, and try not to let thoughts feed on themselves
and go around in unproductive circles. Be quicker to act rather
than to think about the act. God is, after all, forgiving if the
choice turns out to be a mistake. We are after all both exploring
and learning about our Creation.

When you engage in your religious or spiritual activities, stay
grounded and relaxed, and have a sense of peace about it, and
discount high and mighty ideation about yourself. Humility is
grounding and securing for the mind, and guides us to
understand our true and proper place in the universe, that is a
little child of the Creator.

Please take care of yourself, and make slow and careful
progress

Code: Select all

Reducing Dark Thoughts - by Dylan Roberts:
1. If a person is dominated by dark thoughts, the best technique
I know is to take a journal or a piece of paper, and then write
down everything they find ugly about themselves in full
description. (They can keep this fully private)
2. Then they follow this with prayer: Father or Jesus, I no
longer wish to be this way, please remove this from me.
3. Then stay in meditation, and linger with them for a while, as
long as it needs to soak in, while invisible Angels and
Archangels are put to work.
4. This whole process needs to be repeated regularly. (Daily,
twice daily or as much as needed, until the dark thoughts lessen
and/or eventually pass away, remember relapse could occur for
a long period of time, so keep up the effort)
5. The next step or process, is diet and exercise. Vigorous
exercise will raise the consciousness of the mind. Then staying
away from garlic, onions, chilli, too much ginger, will help
unpromote dark thoughts, and so will abstinence from alcohol,
cigarettes and pornography. Doing pranic work at the level of
the vital, and tai chi and yoga, will promote better thoughts,
and more positive energies in the body. Coffee might also
destabilise the situation and make the mind erratic, especially if
the person is prone to erratic thoughts. It could trigger a relapse
into dangerous mental situations, and a cycle back into
problems.
These are the basic steps to healing and recovery.

This is my latest one:

Handling and Recovering from Manic States –
by Dylan Roberts

-Manic states can be a complex and dynamic problem. But is it
useful to ask: How did I get here?

-Often people can fail to recognise when they need to
decompress or rest, especially when they are ‘on a roll’ with a
particular mental process or dynamic unfolding, and perhaps
are having an obsession or a fixation on some topic.

-The lesson here is to develop the awareness of when to stop,
and do something else, or to rest.

-If the mind is going around in circles, approaching a ‘fever
pitch’, becoming ‘silly’, or becoming ‘very intense’ with no
sign of abating, this is the signal to slow down, relax and rest,
or at least until the mind has recovered. (Learn to pace yourself
in other words.)

-I believe people become seriously out of balance in this
department because they don’t allow their brains to shut off,
and this can often lead to much more serious manic and
psychotic states. If you can learn to stop, then I think most of
the more devastating mental states can be avoided, and you
might entirely or partially avoid the need for heavy medication
and treatment.

-Remember your brain is a sensitive instrument, and needs to
be accorded the respect, patience, and even compassion it
deserves. Building mental, physical and spiritual resilience will
enable you to accomplish more with this organ of yours,
becoming a more productive and joyful person. (However learn
to relax and balance yourself, particularly during intensity.)

-Also learn to breathe deep, do something physical, or simply
go to sleep when the time is appropriate. On top of that, don’t
forget to eat if your physical energy is starting to get sapped, a
fantastic, necessary, and effective stop-gap in daily life.

-These skills are going to help you flourish and balance in
ways that will enthral the soul and the imagination, allowing
you to be balanced in a creative fashion, and creative in a
balanced fashion; and then life becomes a joy and not a chore!
Then you can apply your genius in a practical way, becoming
more of a productive servant to mankind.

-Take it easy partner! And enjoy being human!

Hi Dylan,
I just finished reading your pamplets and am very impressed. I hope they help all who read them.

I was happily surprised too, Eric, last week when I saw Dylan was here. :bana:
It is really good to have your input on the board again. :D
