Do Not Throw Away What You Have

Subject: “Do Not Throw Away What You Have.”

Received by Helen Whitworth.

“Please write now, and allow us to tell you the story of the two sisters, separated as children from their families and from each other. One, she stays in a fine house with fine fabrics dressing her and fine furnishings surrounding her. The other sits in a dirty cottage, with little money and a warm-hearted family around her.

“Which is happier?

“You cannot tell. It is easy to assume wealth brings happiness. It is also easy to revoke that attitude and assume therefore that the sister in poverty is in happiness. Truth is, either situation can bring all a person needs should they choose to see it.

“There is no additional grace gained in the eyes of God from living in poverty. There is grace in the eyes of God from living true to your heart, from following your dreams, and from living life to the full, whatever your circumstance.

“Before it or after doesn’t matter. Now is what counts. Chances and opportunities mean little, aside from the choices you make and the place that you sit in now. And within these places all are equal. There is no judgment in the eyes of God and the eyes of Spirit.

“So do not throw away what you have, neither deny yourself the accruing of wealth, for in itself it is no bad thing. A wealthy person can be in love or fear of God as much as the pauper.

“Growing vegetable: Leeks. Tall and straight with long white blanched stems. We grow ourselves this way at times, hiding ourselves in the darkness to truly grow the purest white we are able, the most refined flesh.

“Remember too the green leaves, whilst ragged and tougher, are still edible. Those exposed to the wind and the rain, they bring color and substance to the stew as readily as the whites.

“Do not be so keen to throw the aspects of yourself away. All leeks look the same underground. It is their foliage that marks each apart, and gives each its distinctive flavor.”
