Anthony Hopkins said he reads and remembers his favourite poems to keep his memory alert and fully functioning.
A good tip for my own old age I reckon.

But what if you can't remember them five minutes after memorizing?
Obviously I could never be an actress...but very glad other people can. What would we do with out some of the "bits" that have become so much a part of defining our generations? Hmmm maybe that is a little sad really... or maybe not... (thinking about something as abstract such as a film or entertainment explaining who we all are as a civilization..., say from an archaeological point of view) Obviously, I have mixed feelings... I think some movies, for instance, have actually done a little of the work in opening the inner doors for me as they made a crack in the believable department... sort of like the more you are exposed to an idea, the more normal and accepting it begins to feel for you. Faith/belief that something is possible even just a smidgeon as depicted in fiction may be more then half the battle to opening life's "wonders door".
