You know, when the "change the flag" debate was in full swing some years back, the Sydney Morning Herald asked readers to send in their propositions for the new flag. The top 20 were going to be published etc.. One of the 20 turned out to be a bowl of spaghetti. All these angry and insulted readers contacted the SMH voicing their dismay, but the paper defended itself stating that the entry was based on a legitimate broad survey asking Australians what their favourite food and beverage was. Q. Favourite food? A. Spaghetti Bolognaise. Q. Favourite drink? A. Cappuccino.
One for the Italians... /Australians
I don't actually like horse racing all that much, I'll add a small part of an article I recently read by Ben Phobjie.
"I mean, do people realise this? Do they realise that these horses aren't out there thinking, "Come on, 500 more metres to glory, and the Cup will be mine! Wait till I tell my grandfoals!" They're actually thinking "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH". That's all they can think — they're horses, for Christ's sake."
I actually think horses probably can think a bit more, but Ben's point here is still well stated. In case someone's interested, you can find the article at: http://newmatilda.com/2009/10/15/only-d ... ave-racing
Cheers everybody,
Paolo... all in good humour. :]
