Arashiyama
Hi all,
While we had a few good days weather wise last week we ventured out to Arashiyama (meaning storm mountains) in Kyoto. I was playing with my new camera. The Temples and shrines had a very special feel. In the third shot you can even see a monk walking up the steps.

Re: Arashiyama
Shane,
Very striking and serene looking. I would have loved to have just sat there for awhile absorbing the tranquility. What a nice way to spend your day! On vacations(with Dave, not the family) I would sit and meditate and receive the most amazing visions and visits in those beautiful peaceful places.
There has to be some wonderful stories behind the places you photographed. What are the stone figures in the last one?

And Spirit whispered, "There are no limits."

These are the burial plots of the poor who lived in the area over 300 years ago. They couldn't afford to have a typical Japanese ceremony so the monks took them in and provided an area where they could finally rest in peace.

Shane,
When I saw that last image I immediately thought, 'stone garden'. Great image.

Shane,
My first impression led me to believe it was a cemetery. I wondered, "For who?" Thanks for the explanation.
